Nokia launched an imaging SDK, following the debut of its Windows Phone-powered Lumia 1020 smartphone which features a 41 megapixel camera.

The SDK allows developers to include sophisticated imaging options in their apps for Lumia smartphones. The SDK has 50 filters, effects and image adjustments, allowing users to personalise their photos.

Nokia uses the same technology for its own imaging apps, Smart Camera and Creative Studio. Nokia’s Random Access JPEG technology allows more efficient image manipulation and faster and smoother user experiences.

Apps to have made use of the SDK include Foursquare, Hipstamatic, Path, Yelp and CNN.

Nokia also announced that magazine app Flipboard and Twitter’s Vine video app will soon be coming to Windows Phone.
