Research firm Nielsen has backtracked on a previous assertion that almost one-third of Apple iPad users had never downloaded an app, changing the figure to 9 percent – without stating the reason for the massive discrepancy. On its website is noted that “this article and the related download have been amended to reflect updates to the percentage of iPad users in the survey downloading apps,” replacing its original 32 percent assertion (with an additional 5 percent having only downloaded free products) with the new, 9 percent figure (and no break-out of free app-only downloads).
