Startup Monclarity raised $5 million in seed funding from Access Industries and launched a brain training app called Brainwell.

The company was formed by neuropsychologist and neuroscientist Dr. Elkhonon Goldberg and game creator Anatoly Tikhman.

Tikhman told Mobile World Live the firm wants to continue to “create cutting-edge new content and new games for its users”.

“Additionally, we’re working with scientists and universities to conduct new studies with our product that we feel could revolutionise how apps like Brainwell are used,” he said.

“We are also in the beginning stages of exploring the integration of new brain training technologies, like wearables, and how that could not only enhance our product, but the brain training space altogether,” he added.

Brainwell aims to improve cognitive function across multiple key cognitive domains and delivers gameplay across smartphones, tablets and online with customised workouts.

“Games are the easiest, most enjoyable way to improve cognition and fight cognitive decline,” said Tikhman in a statement.

“Brainwell’s games turn neuroscience concepts into fun and engaging experiences. Syncing them across all devices makes strengthening your brain super-convenient,” he explained.

Brainwell is available on iOS, Android, Kindle and web. Users get an initial cognitive fitness test, then three games daily for free. Subscribing members get access to 50 games and new games as they’re added.
