Finnish firm Digia launched Qt Mobile Edition, a set of tools to help developers to build and deploy apps for Android, iOS and other platforms.

Qt Mobile Edition also allows developers to manage apps they deploy using the service via the cloud backend service, Enginio, which is optimised for Qt.

The product is aimed at individual developers and app software organisations looking to quickly develop high-performance native apps using a single framework.

The tools will cost $149 per user licence and will be available after the Qt5.2 update is released in December.

The Qt software development framework supports apps built for desktop, embedded and mobile platforms. Digia oversees the product development and commercial and open source licensing of Qt.

“Today’s mobile developers want to produce always-connected apps that not only deliver stunning graphics and native performance, but which can be developed efficiently and easily deployed to multiple platforms and screens,” said Tommi Laitinen, SVP of international products for Digia Qt.
