Consumers are more likely to play mobile games at home than on the move, according to research by content portal MocoSpace.

The US-based research found that 96 percent of people play mobile games in their homes at least once per day, of whom 53 percent said they do so in bed.

However, other locations and situations for playing games were also popular, with 83 percent of people playing mobile games while waiting for an appointment and 72 percent while commuting.

More than half of the 15,000 respondents (52 percent) said they play games for more than an hour each day, with 32 percent playing for more than three hours.

Many people also seem to play games when they are meant to be doing another task. Nearly two-thirds (64 percent) said they play games when they should be working or socialising. A tenth of respondents said they played mobile games for more than an hour a day at work.

Social games proved the most popular type of game, with 62 percent saying they play these in preference to action, puzzle or gambling apps.
