San Francisco-based app store optimisation (ASO) startup Mobile Action acquired Appmind, an ASO tool maker, to “accelerate the company’s growth by providing additional backend technology”.

Appmind’s CEO, Gabriel Machuret, will join the Mobile Action team as a “brand ambassador”.

Aykut Karaalioglu, founder and CEO of Mobile Action, said: “We have been big fans of Gabriel and Appmind for a long time and are excited to welcome him to the team and offer our customers an even more comprehensive ASO solution.”

The company said Machuret’s expertise will benefit users of both platforms, due to his “deep understanding of ASO and how the app stores work”, as well as his “ideas for new tools and features”.

Appmind’s backend technology will help support and accelerate Mobile Action’s platform speed during a period of rapid growth and will enable a new team to collaborate on tools for developers, marketers and product managers of apps, the company added.

In an interview with Mobile World Live last year, Karaalioglu claimed he was given $1 million to boost eBay’s App Store ranking when he was 23 and achieved it by spending just $20,000.

According to him, “developers do not maximise their titles and keywords, or they do not include enough engaging app screenshots for potential users to see. Mobile Action is built to help address these mistakes. We provide over 50 actionable items that a developer can do to improve discovery.”
