Mobile advertising network Millennial Media announced availability of a SDK for Windows Phone 7, which it said extends the same monetisation options it offers for other platforms to the new Microsoft OS. The company is offering a fully supported Silverlight and XNA SDK; rich set-up and development tools to insert ads where and how the developer chooses; full rich-media support for Silverlight apps; interactive ad units for agencies and creative shops; and interstitial ad support for Silverlight apps.

The company said it has “been excited for this platform since Microsoft started talking about their new operating system.” According to its most recent analysis of the US market, based on figures from December 2010, 55 percent of the requests made to its network were from Android devices, with 39 percent from iOS terminals and 3 percent from Symbian smartphones.

Earlier this year, Millennial announced it had raised an additional US$27.5 million in funding, taking its total to-date to US$65 million, which will be used to “to fund an acceleration of the company’s 2011 global growth plan.” It said that it intends to build on its 2010 acquisition of mobile analytics firm TapMetrics with “additional acquisitions in 2011,” with investments also being made in its international and platform business lines.
