App monetisation firm Metaps said there had been more than one billion downloads of apps using its monetisation platform, driven by expansion in Greater China and Southeast Asia.

In the past year, Metaps agreed “very productive partnerships” with Asian messaging app players LINE and Kakao, according to Katsuaki Sato, its CEO.

It also continued to improve the quality of its user network, while adding makers of high quality Android games. The opening of a local office in Shanghai boosted its business in Greater China.

The platform consists of a number of products that provide Android developers with monetisation capabilities, including the DirectTAP ad network, Offerwall rewards programme and Exchanger, which allows developers to exchange app traffic.

Metaps secured JPY1 billion ($10.6 million) of funding in March last year, which it said would be used to help it become the largest Android monetisation platform in the world by the end of the year.
