LINE Corp said sales of stickers made by users of its messaging app reached JPY1.23 billion ($11.9 million) in the three months following the launch of its Creators Market.

The Creators Market, in which users buy and sell their own stickers, was launched in May. Designs are reviewed by LINE before being made available via the in-app Sticker Shop.

Creators receive around 50 per cent of the revenue from sticker sales.

According to LINE, more than 149,000 users from 124 countries have registered as sticker creators, with more than 30,000 sticker sets registered so far.

More than 12.4 million sticker sets have been purchased with more than 10,000 of the 11,000 currently on sale having come from the Creators Market.

The average revenue generated by the top 10 selling stickers is JPY22.3 million, while the same figure for the top 30 is JPY12.9 million. In addition, 55.5 per cent of sets have generated more than JPY10,000 in revenue, showing that it is not just the top sellers who are making a decent income.
