Messaging giant Line announced an advertising partnership with Tapjoy, while separately adding group video call capabilities to its app.
Users of Line Messenger can now earn reward points by engaging with advertisements from Tapjoy’s premium ad partners. These can be used to buy in-app stickers, themes and other content.
The deal sees Tapjoy becomes Line’s partner for “rewarded advertisements” in more than 200 countries.
Steve Wadsworth, president and CEO of Tapjoy, said the firm’s “interplay ad platform is already the method of choice for millions of consumers to access premium content in their favorite apps”.
Tapjoy offers opt-in advertisements from brands and partners, rewarding more than 500 million monthly users with in-app currency.
Line also introduced a group video call feature, allowing users to see real-time video feeds of multiple conversation participants at the same time.
Up to 200 people can participate in a group chat or across multiple chat groups, with up to four faces shown on the screen simultaneously, the firm said.
Also available are various filters and effects, similar to those found in Line’s camera apps, including some triggered by facial movements.
