LINE Corp removed 15 third-party titles from its LINE Game service, with plans to focus its resources on products that are enjoying greater growth “in order to further propel the service as a global gaming platform”.

The company removed the games on Friday and promised that all unused player points and in-app currency would be refunded to users.

“LINE Game will continue to work towards providing more fun and exciting games for the enjoyment of all players. We appreciate your understanding over this decision,” the company said in a statement.

This is the second time in six months LINE has removed a number of titles from the platform. It shut down 20 titles in June for similar reasons.

According to TechCrunch, following the removal of the games in question, LINE offers 43 iOS titles and 55 for Google Play.

Refund applications can be made via a webpage after logging in with user account information. Customers select the relevant title, check the balance, and enter bank details to receive the repayment.

Users have from 8 December to 13 February 2015 to submit refund requests on apps that include LINE Jelly, Punch Hero and Sonic Dash S.

The games platform was introduced two years ago with just four titles. The company recently said that 470 million downloads have since been made.

There have been several hit titles such as LINE Disney TsumTsum, which had more than 30 million downloads, LINE Rangers (23 million downloads) and LINE Pokopang (38 million).

In-app purchases reached $192 million in the third quarter of the year, doubling in the space of a year.

LINE is continuing to invest in games. At its conference in October, it announced a partnership with GREE to establish a joint venture called Epic Voyage, and named Translimit as the first recipient of funds from the LINE Game Global Gateway, which aims to boost Japanese gaming content on the LINE platform.
