Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet is generating the greatest developer buzz of any Android tablet in North America, edging out Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and echoing the interest in Apple's iPad prior to its launch in April 2010.

The Kindle Fire is also second to the Samsung device globally, despite currently only being available in the US, according to a survey of more than 2,000 developers carried out by IDC and cross-platform developer platform provider Appcelerator.

“Amazon has shown exceptional early success in appealing to developers with the Kindle Fire, showing that price and differentiation are keys to competing in the crowded Android tablet space, rather than simply chasing the iPad market," IDC VP Mobile & Connected Consumer Platforms Scott Ellison said.

The survey also found that Windows Phone has moved ahead of RIM’s BlackBerry OS to become the third most popular OS in terms of developer interest behind iOS and Android. Ellison attributed to change recent announcement of the first Nokia phone to run the Microsoft platform the Nokia Lumia 800.
