South Korean games company Gamevil announced good results for the fourth quarter of 2012, highlighting growth in both its international and third-party publishing businesses.

The company announced a fourth quarter net profit of KRW6.5 billion (US$6.0 million), up 12.3 per cent, on revenue of KRW21.87 billion, up 32 per cent year-on-year.

For the full year, its net income was up 39.4 per cent to KRW22.4 billion, on sales of KRW70.24 billion, up 64.3 per cent.

While its domestic sales saw “steady” growth across the year, the company said its international sales had “increased tremendously” to account for 39 per cent of total sales in 2012 – compared with 25 per cent in 2011.

The company also said its strong Q4 can be attributed to “focused efforts in third-party publishing”, alongside sales of its own titles. While third-party titles accounted for 23 per cent of sales in 2011, for 2012 this increased to 44 per cent.

Yong Kuk Lee, CFO of Gamevil, said: “With strong foundations in a worldwide user base and strategies for the ever changing mobile game market, we are directing our efforts to continue being a major global player in this mobile gaming industry.”

The company is forecasting a 42 per cent increase in sales for 2013 to KRW100 billion, with more than 50 games in the pipeline for the year.
