Kuddle, a Norwegian start-up offering a safe picture-sharing app aimed towards children, took to crowdfunding site Fundable in its efforts to raise $1.35 million.

The company said that while it is “extremely popular” in its home market of Scandinavia, it has also enjoyed success in the social network category in the UK and Brazil, “in competition with the likes of Instagram, Twitter and Facebook”.

“We are ramped up for the Asian market and have lined-up Japan, Vietnam, South Korea and Thailand, so this round will mainly be used to initiate our launch there and continue our healthy growth of users,” said Ole Vidar Hestaas.

The new funding round values the company at $4.5 million before the issue of new shares.
