The Indian government is to develop a mobile app store for e-government services and will invite companies to submit apps for consideration, reports India’s Business Line.

Officials at the Department of Electronics and Information Technology said that the government will make a request for proposals from private companies following the launch of a desktop version of the e-Gov app store last week.

The nationwide app store currently holds 20 apps and the aim is to bring that up to 100 titles over the next three years.

It should eventually offer apps that allow people to apply for birth and death certificates, pay land tax and access health information.
