Google said that in the week to 1 August 2012, 15.9 percent of visits to its Google Play portal came from devices running an Ice Cream Sandwich variant (Android 4.0.x), compared with 10.9 percent for the two weeks to 2 July. The period also marked the debut of the Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) platform, as used in the Nexus 7 tablet, which contributed 0.8 percent of visits. The single biggest version remains Gingerbread (Android 2.3.x), which contributed more than 60 percent of visits.
