App discovery company Hooked Media added a “new predictive system” to its Hooked app, which is described as “a game discovery engine for the Google Play Marketplace”.

When users browse for new content, the app will provide game recommendations, with a prediction of whether they will like a game, as compared to the ratings on Google Play.

The company said its recommendation system uses several machine-learning algorithms, which take into account factors such as behavior patterns and an analysis of the games already installed.

It said that over time, the system’s recommendation improve, as players continue to purchase and rate apps which are picked up by the system and factored into future recommendations.

The company is also introducing “daily fun facts” about users. It said that its system will use a “variety of data” to curate tailored facts, such as percentage of games spent play one game versus another, or how they rank compared to their friends, which can then be used for comparison.

The daily facts will also include geo-location, meaning a user could discover if they play more than others in a specific city.

Hooked Media announced its app earlier this year, and by May 2012 said it had been downloaded more than one million times in the space of a week.

The app has also been updated to integrate social discovery features.
