The GSMA has announced the finalists for its 2011 Brand App Challenge, in which developers compete to create the best app for three Coca Cola brands: Coca-Cola, Coke Zero and Diet Coke. Five finalists have been chosen for each of the three brands and the 15 developers move forward to a final stage of evaluation at the GSMA Mobile World Congress later this month where the winners will be announced.

The finalists for the Coca-Cola brand are “Share Happiness” by Mike VanBeneden from the US, “Happiness is Now” by Germany’s Marco Reinbold, “Happiness is Everywhere” by Mobext of Spain, “Coke Music Maker” by the UK’s Ed Barlow and “Cokeoke” by Hana Kadlecova, USA.  For Coke Zero, the finalists are “Heroes Meets Zeros” by Two Bulls from the US, “Reward Goals” by Mike VanBeneden (his second nomination),  also from the US, “Cola Dance” by Andrei Neculaesei of Romania, “Meeting Your Favourite Pop Star” by Denmark’s App Factory and “Crazy Voice Coca-Cola Edition” by Slawomir Baranowski of Poland.  And the finalists for Diet Coke are “Robo Coke” by IntelMind of Poland, “Light Moment” by the Netherlands’ Ron van den Berg, “Lighten Up” by Pete Herron of the US, “Coke Diet Extra Studio” by Poland’s Maksymilian Jorzak and “Diet Coke Good Vibrations” by Antonio Garcia of Spain.

Entries were accepted across a range of platforms including Android, Apple iOS, BlackBerry OS 6, HP webOS, Symbian and Windows Phone 7. There are five prizes per brand, with the first place winner being awarded US$10,000, a trip to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and the chance to meet with the Coca-Cola team.
