Japan-based mobile social gaming company GREE has released the first game to come from its North American Studio. Zombie Jombie is a free card-based iOS game, and includes social features such as the ability to trade cards with other players.

GREE International SVP of social games Eiji Araki, said the San Francisco-based team had created an “innovative gaming experience” and tied it to great social features, “an approach we plan to implement for all of our games moving forward."

GREE is working on a global social gaming platform for iOS and Android, which it says will bring developers “a fully ‘borderless’ system including single sign-on for users, a global payment solution, and a series of robust out-of-network cross promotional opportunities.” The platform is due to launch in Q2 2012.

With the acquisition of mobile social gaming network OpenFeint in April 2011, GREE now has more than 190 million registered players and more than 7,500 mobile games.
