Japan-based social gaming company Gree said that its Gree Platform – described as “a mobile social gaming network that will help to build a worldwide developer and player community” – has officially moved into open beta.

The company said that it will offer an API suite that will help developers build apps which include the social viral tools needed to “reach high-engagement players, drive installs and decrease cost per acquisition.”

Among the features supported are social tools including an invite service, request service and a share service, as well as casual games tools such as leaderboards and achievements – “all with the goal in mind of building a strong developer and player community.”

As part of the initial launch, Gree Platform will be available in English and Japanese, with plans to launch more than 60 titles and localise into 14 other languages by September 2012.

The platform launch follows Gree’s acquisition of OpenFeint, and the subsequent integration of their technologies.

Developers are being invited to download the new platform tools now.
