Google used its Android Developers Blog to highlight its Tablet App Quality Checklist, designed to improve the standard of apps built for tablets powered by the platform.

Areas covered include optimising layouts for larger screens, taking advantage of the extra screen area available on larger devices, and using icons and other assets that are designed for tablet screens.

As developers move through the Tablet App Quality Checklist, the blog post said that they will be provided with “links to extra support resources that can help you address the topics raised in each task”.

The company also said that “with the holiday season now approaching, we’re creating even more ways for great tablet apps to be featured in Google Play – including a series of new app collections that highlight great apps specifically for tablet users”.
