Google announced availability of its updated Google Play Developer Console, stating that since previewing it earlier this year it has been “testing it out with tens of thousands of developers, reviewing their feedback and making adjustments”.

The company said in a blog post that “at its core, the Developer Console is how you put your app in front of hundreds of millions of Android users around the world, and track how your app is doing”.

It said that it is now offering a streamlined publishing flow, language options, and user ratings statistics. These are delivered through an updated user interface, which Google said is “bright and appealing to look at, easy to find your way around using navigation and search, and loads quickly even if you have a lot of apps”.

With regard to the updated statistics tools, the company said it will deliver “new statistics about user ratings: a graph showing changes over time, for both the all-time average user rating and new user ratings that come in on a certain day”. Developers can also break down data by device, country, language, operator, Android version, and app version.

The app publishing process has also been “completely revamped and streamlined”; and more listings are available of languages – with automatic translation available.

Although the new Developer Console is widely available, Google said that “we’re not quite done yet”, and some features are not yet supported – namely multiple APK support, APK expansion files and announcements. To use these, developers can switch back to the original version at any time.
