Google provided additional detail on its Android Market performance, having passed the 10 billion downloads mark early in December 2011.

While the US and China are generally seen as accounting for the largest number of app downloads, on a per-capita basis customers in South Korea have the largest appetite. Hong Kong and Taiwan follow, with the US in fourth place, the company revealed.

Unsurprisingly, Games is the top category in the Market (25.6 percent of downloads), followed by Entertainment (12.2 percent), and then Tools (11.17 percent). The company also provided a breakdown of the Games performance, which is dominated by Arcade titles (39.25 percent of the total), followed by “Brain” (22.08 percent).

According to the company, the most popular time to download apps is 21:00 on Sunday, with the least popular being 04:00 on Monday.

Google also said that 1.87 million hours have been spent using the IMDB app in the last four months, 10 billion cans have been knocked over in Can Knockdown, and that 466,216 miles are run each month by users of Fieldrunners HD. Songs by Adele have been identified using Shazam almost 1.8 million times, and 4,054 years have been playing with Talking Tom.
