Google has acquired Timeful, a calendar and to-do list app with “intelligent assistance”, and plans to apply its technology “across products like Inbox, Calendar and beyond”.

Writing on the Gmail blog, Alex Gawley, director of product management at Google, said “the Timeful team has built an impressive system that helps you organise your life by understanding your schedule, habits and needs”.

He added that Google’s products like Gmail and Docs have simplified the lives of users but that they are still inundated with “too many updates, information and everyday tasks”, and Google wants to make that easier through Timeful.

For instance, users can tell Timeful they want to exercise three times a week or call the bank by a certain day, and their system “will make sure you get it done based on an understanding of both your schedule and your priorities”.

The Timeful app is still available for download and “but moving forward the team’s attention will be on new projects at Google”, the app makers said on the Timeful website.
