South Korean mobile games developer Gamevil set up a branch office in Japan, “in support of its expanding global strategy.”

The company said that the Tokyo-based centre will carry out various mobile game services locally, including localisation, targeted marketing, and serving new and existing distribution deals with partners “including Apple, Google, NTT Docomo, KDDI, Softbank, DeNA and Gree.”

Gamevil said that with more than 117 million mobile phone users, Japan is the second largest mobile game market in the world. The company will also look to “leverage new business opportunities and make further inroads into Asia at large.”

The company created a US business in 2006.
