Gamevil: Growing mobile gaming stakes fuelling acquisitions

21 OCT 2013

The growing stakes in the mobile gaming sector has prompted Gamevil to take a more aggressive approach to acquisitions, investment and partnerships, according to Kyu Lee, president of the game maker and publisher’s business in the USA.

In an interview with Mobile World Live, Lee said: “Mobile gaming is becoming bigger and bigger and production values are at an all-time high. The ante has gone up in terms of being a successful publisher.”

He explained that aggressive investment around the world will expand the company’s global reach and “further solidify our position as a leading mobile games publisher”.

The company is currently working on a $130 million investment programme to expand around the world.

In the past few months Gamevil acquired South Korean rival Com2uS and US developer Relax Games along with Nine Wheels and stakes in Everple and DBROS.

As well as looking for great teams and ideas to invest in, Lee said Gamevil is “more interested in sizable teams that have great execution capabilities and are willing to run games as a service”.
