Fitbit, the maker of the wearable fitness tracker, said it has seen more than one million downloads of its app on Android, as it announced integration with the new HTC flagship smartphone, HTC One (M8).

Fitbit also said that its activity and sleep tracking devices now sync directly with 44 Android and iOS smartphones. This is up from 26 devices at the beginning of the year.

The Fitbit app is the most downloaded app for fitness devices on Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

App analytics company Distimo found that 83 per cent of device installs for fitness tracker apps on Google Play were for Fitbit. This figure was 72 per cent on iOS devices.

The app allows users to see real-time activity stats for activity and sleep patterns. Data includes steps taken, distance travelled and calories burned.
