The app store for Mozilla’s forthcoming Firefox mobile OS will focus on allowing users to quickly search for apps in individual categories rather than providing a large number of highlighted apps, according to images seen by Engadget.

The images provide evidence that Mozilla is progressing with the development of its HTML5-based Firefox platform and ecosystem ahead of launch next year.

It was announced in July that Mozilla’s mobile OS is being backed by Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, Smart, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefonica and Telenor.

The first devices to be powered by the OS will be made by TCL, under the Alcatel One Touch brand, and ZTE. The first launch is due to take place in Brazil in 2013 through Telefonica’s Vivo brand.
