Fieldwire, maker of an app and web platform that facilitates collaboration on construction projects, raised $6.6 million in a fundraising round, which it told Mobile World Live will be used to “expand its team and continue to deliver a superior product to its customers”.

It explained in a statement that with the mass adoption of mobile devices by workers in the $8 trillion construction industry, its mobile collaboration platform looks to remove the billions wasted every year due to unproductive time on site.

According to Yves Frinault, co-founder and CEO of Fieldwire, “to collaborate, people still rely heavily on paper, whiteboards and physically tracking down a person on-site, which is time consuming and error prone. Fieldwire’s mobile platform makes it easy for teams to stay both agile and organised in the field.”

The app provides task scheduling, progress photos, reporting and archiving and allows large plans to load instantly on mobile devices. Users can keep working offline and the app will sync automatically when connected.

BloombergBeta, Trinity Ventures and AngelPad participated in the round, which was led by Formation 8. Formation 8’s Tanguy Chau will join Fieldwire’s board.

35,000 projects have been created on the app to date and Fieldwire, which was founded in 2013, is one of Apple’s enterprise mobility partners.
