Facebook has announced a portal for social apps, supporting Android and iOS titles as well as web apps.

Called App Center, users will be able to access it via the native apps for the Google and Apple platforms, as well as the web. If neccessary, it will redirect users to Apple’s App Store or Google Play to enable app downloads.

Although developers have been able to use in-app purchases to monetise apps on Facebook for some time, App Center will also allow developers to submit paid products.

Each app will have an information page with download links. Developers can create their detail page in the App Center section of the Developer App and can also upload images and configure permissions that their app requires.

Facebook said that "success through the App Center is tied to the quality of an app," and it will use information including user ratings and engagement to determine if an app gets listed on the portal.
