Facebook said that more than 150 million people had used its App Center following its global rollout, driving 2.4 times more installs than its previous apps and games dashboard.

According to a blog post from the company, the portal is also attracting “highly engaged users,” with those installing via the App Center 35 percent more likely than the average user to return to an app the following day, and 17 percent more likely to return within a week.

Facebook said that “some social iOS and Android apps are receiving thousands of additional mobile installs every day”.

App Center is available to the social giant’s 955 million users worldwide, through its website as well as its iPhone, iPad and Android apps.

The service was first announced in June 2012, initially targeting US customers, although it has been rolled out internationally fairly rapidly.

It is listing apps “based on quality signals from users”.
