The team behind Pieceable Viewer, a company which enables iOS developers to deliver their apps via a desktop browser, is set to join Facebook, although in a blog post Pieceable noted that “Facebook is not acquiring the company, technology, or customer data.”

So far, it has also not been revealed what Facebook intends doing with the staff it has brought on board, although the team also has experience beyond the current project. According to TechCrunch, founder Fred Potter has worked for location sharing service Loopt and on-device app store BerryStore, with Jameson Hsu, its CEO, previously co-founding games tools company Mochi Media.

The Pieceable service will be closed on 31 December 2012, although the company is planning to make available an open-source version “in a few months.”

While Facebook has acquired several app developers in recent months, including gifting app developer Karma and its US$1 billion Instagram deal, it has also made some deals where it acquired staff rather than products or services, such as the team behind the Lightbox photo sharing app.
