The number of monthly active users accessing Facebook via mobile apps has broken the 300 million barrier, according to Enders Analysis analyst Benedict Evans. Evans writes in a blog post that Facebook app use has been boosted by the number of mobile devices received by consumers during the Christmas period.

Facebook currently has around 800 million total users with around 350 million of those being mobile users. This means 70 percent of users accessing the service on mobile devices do so via an app, equivalent to 30 percent of total users. According to Evans’ figures, as of 27 December more than two-thirds of those accessing Facebook via mobile apps are doing so from Android and iOS devices.

The social networking company has stated that it expects mobile to the main source of its next billion users.
