Facebook’s latest standalone app is “designed for event seekers” and will include a calendar for users.

Facebook Events is available for iOS users in the US, and will come to Android soon. It will also pull in data from a device’s calendar app.

Users can see what their friends are interested in and what is happening nearby as well as events being planned by the Pages they like.

Events is one of Facebook’s oldest features, launched in 2005, and the social media giant said more than 100 million use it to discover things they can do with their friends — from festivals to fairs and night life.

Facebook’s core app will still offer the events feature, so users won’t be forced to download the app, as was the case with Messenger.

The actions users take in the app will be visible on Facebook so others who don’t have the app can see their activities.

The new app will show updates from events users are connected to. They can also browse event recommendations and explore events based on location.

Over the years, Facebook has taken many of its popular features and turned them into standalone apps, including Groups and Messenger.

Last year, Facebook shut down its incubator Creative Labs along with several of the standalone apps it had created, including Slingshot, Rooms and Riff.
