Mendix, a Boston-based company that provides a platform for enterprise app development, secured Series B funding to the tune of $25 million.

The funds will be used to drive the company’s global expansion, boost product development and ramp up its sales efforts as it looks to grow market share.

The Mendix App Platform enables rapid development of business-focused apps. Customers include mobile operators Sprint and KPN, investment bank ABN Amro, Yahoo and CapGemini.

The company saw triple-digit growth in revenue in 2013 and opened offices in the Netherlands and UK.

The funding round was led by Battery Ventures with Prime Ventures, an existing investor.

Michael Brown, general partner at Battery Ventures, said his firm was impressed with the “vision and execution” of Mendix, along with its strong revenue growth and customer success.

“The [application platform as a service] market is currently wide open, and we believe Mendix is well positioned to be the dominant player,” Brown added.

Growing interest in the enterprise app market has seen a number of mobile players ramp up their efforts in the space.

Samsung launched a service which enterprises can use to source business apps for Android devices while AT&T provides business customers with the SAP Mobile Platform to simplify mobile app development for businesses.
