App analytics firm Distimo launched a tool which delivers daily estimated download volumes, revenue and rankings for any iOS or Android app in 40 countries, alongside a chart of the top titles in each market, category and app store, again updated daily.

Distimo AppIQ offers stats on downloads and revenue – including the monetisation model used – as well as updates on price changes, featured listings and version updates for individual apps. The service is aimed at helping developers, financial services companies and brands identify market and app store opportunities, analyse market shares and plan marketing campaigns more efficiently.

AppIQ is available on a subscription basis, with pricing dependent on the number of apps and countries being measured.

The company also launched Distimo Leaderboard, which compiles information on the top apps in each country, app store and category. Developers can use the Leaderboard to find out how many downloads are needed to achieve certain rankings in app marketplaces.

Distimo claims that data on 54 percent of the apps has a margin of error of below 3 percent, while 95 percent have a margin of less than 10 percent.

The service covers Amazon Appstore, Apple App Store, BlackBerry App World, Google Play, Nokia Ovi Store, Samsung Apps and Windows Phone Store.“Our goal is to provide independent and reliable insight into the extremely fragmented app market. It is very common in other market sectors to have access to the performance of your competitors, but it’s been untouched territory in the app store sector – until today,” said Vincent Hoogsteder, CEO and co-founder of Distimo.
