Conduit, which provides technology to help companies boost their brand online and on mobile, launched a new tool that allows publishers to build mobile apps from their smartphone, rather than a desktop computer.

The ‘Mobile from Mobile’ platform is a modified version of Conduit’s web-based DIY app creation platform and allows the creation of custom apps without the need to allocate resources to coding.

The technology makes use of Facebook’s Connect technology to incorporate existing Facebook content belonging to publishers into ‘fully-functional’ apps that are compatible with iOS and Android.

Mobile from Mobile also allows users to include in-app features, including coupons, loyalty cards, e-commerce links and reservation forms.

The technology is pitched at small businesses and organisation “needing to expand audiences and strengthen customer loyalty”.

“With ‘Mobile from Mobile’, now any publisher can reach into their pocket, take out a smartphone, and complete the entire app creation process – no computer needed,” said Li-at Karpel Gurwicz, Conduit Mobile’s marketing director.

More than 200,000 apps have been created on computers using the Conduit Mobile platform to date.

There are a number of quick-build platforms for mobile apps, including Microsoft’s Windows Phone App Studio, which had 160,000 users at the beginning of November, despite only launching in August.
