Parola, maker of a music platform that allows users to collaborate, record and remix songs, launched its iOS music app, backed by $2 million seed capital from angel investors.

Parola uses patented technology and the songs in its music catalogue were traditionally only accessible through professional recording studios.

Users can create songs together by adding vocals and instruments, as well as collaborating on new tracks to achieve studio-like sound without expensive equipment.

“We launched Parola as an open music platform, which is similar to open source, that is leveraging the creativity of the crowd,” said its CEO, Ido Ariely.

Parola pre-launched at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2015, where it demoed a beta version of the app.

The private angel investments were led by Michael Cohen (partner at Capital International), Yanki Margalit (founder of investment fund Innodo) and Miki Tunis (Senior VP at The Orchard, a Sony Music Entertainment holding).
