Chinese mapping company AutoNavi said that its free app had passed 100 million users, joining only five other players from the country in having a consumer base of this size.

In a statement, AutoNavi said that according to a report issued by Analysys International, the only other Chinese companies with a similar reach are Tencent, Alibaba Group, Qihoo 360, Sina and UCWeb.

The company’s app integrates digital mapping information with complementary content from “vertical service providers”, to offer end-users location-relevant information and services.

Features include personalised and optimised routing information, estimated arrival time, real-time traffic information with user-generated content, traffic broadcasts, and interoperability with Sina’s Weibo microblogging service.

It is said to work with all major smartphone operating systems, and also supports access via mobile browsers. It is available “through all the major app stores in China”.
