Mobile app promotion network Chartboost has announced that its cross-promotion platform for Android and iOS mobile games has hit one billion impressions since launching in May 2011.

The Chartboost platform gives game developers the ability to do deals directly with each other to place interstitial ads for their games within other apps. The model allows developers to boost their ad revenue by bypassing ad networks and removes the need for sales teams, as developers can connect directly via the platform. The company announced an open beta version of its platform for Android in December 2011.

The US-based company said that in 2012, it plans to focus on international growth in Asia, Europe and Latin America, including an appearance at the GSMA’s Mobile World Congress at the end of February.

"Game developers in any corner of the world want to reach a global audience. They see a huge value in an interconnected network where they can buy and sell traffic from different parts of the world to grow in countries where they need to expand their reach," said Chartboost co-founder and CEO Maria Alegre.
