Hugely popular mobile game Candy Crush has been launched for Kakao’s mobile game platform. The move means the game is available to the 110 million people who use the South Korean company’s messaging services across various mobile operating systems.
The Kakao version of Candy Crush has unique social gaming features, including the ability to send requests via the Kakao Talk chat service and to share exclusive emoticons.
Kakao said in July that its game platform had more than 30 million users just a year after it launched. The platform initially had 10 games from seven partners but this increased to 180 titles from 99 developers during its first 12 months, eight of which recorded more than 10 million downloads.
Candy Crush Saga was launched on Facebook in April 2012 and is now one of the most downloaded free apps on iPhone and Google, according to app store analytics company App Annie. It’s also one of the highest grossing apps when in-game purchases are included.
Candy Crush maker King was reportedly planning an IPO in June with sources saying the London-based company had hired banks JP Morgan Chase, Credit Suisse and Bank of America to handle a potential IPO.
