BlackBerry has refocused its ‘Developer Groups’ efforts to focus on the needs of enterprise members, as it strengthens efforts to provide apps targeting its core user base.

The company said that there are currently 57 Enterprise Developer Groups around the world, a total which includes existing groups “which have members with a strong interest in the enterprise segment or have been working in that space for the past few years”.

And BlackBerry said that it is “helping our existing consumer-focused Developer Groups transition to the developer programs run by Amazon”, following a partnership between the companies which was announced earlier this year.

At the time the move was announced, BlackBerry head John Chen said that it will “help BlackBerry continue to meet two essential needs: greater app availability for our smartphone users and enhanced productivity solutions for enterprises”.

Developer Groups are said to be “local, community led, and provide developers with shared learning interests with the opportunity to network and get support”.
