Mobile apps are the fastest growing content area for Barnes & Noble, the book retailer-turned hardware vendor that recently launched the Android-based Nook Tablet.

CEO William Lynch said in an investor call that entertainment, movies, Netflix, game and titles for children are dominating the apps being downloaded for the Nook, reports PaidContent. Lynch said apps are “huge” for the company with Angry Birds the most downloaded product for the Nook, and Netflix also proving consistently popular.

Lynch declined to discuss whether Barnes & Noble plans to launch a tablet with a larger screen than the current Nook, but said the company would “innovate in the areas we think we can add value.”

Lynch added that customers who buy Nooks also spend more on print books. “The idea that people who are digital readers just stop buying physical books is… not true,” he said.
