Developer tools company appMobi is offering HTML5 developers complete access to its products and cloud services, but will only charge profitable apps, noting that it is “so sure that the HTML5 market is going to be massive”.

The company will offer its services free for the first 10,000 monthly active users, before charging US$0.10 per additional user. It said that this has “made it risk free” for mobile app developers to tweak and tune apps to maximise engagement and revenue.

appMobi said that using the traditional model, developers using cloud products have been forced to predict an app’s usage and pay in advance for each cloud service. This meant that “if they predicted wrong, they either wasted money by buying excess capacity, or faced upcharges if their apps were more successful than planned”.

The company’s cloud platform offers features including in-app payments, rich media push messaging, user analytics, gamification and game acceleration.
