Developer tools company appMobi has introduced a free cross-platform app store analytics service for apps built using HTML5 or Adobe’s PhoneGap developer framework.

storeView provides developers with real-time sales and app activity data across app stores including Apple’s App Store and Google Play as well as Facebook, Amazon, Chrome, Mozilla and Barnes & Noble.

The service is designed to cater for the increasing amount of cross platform app development, when each app store uses a different method to report sales and activity. The fragmentation this causes can make it difficult for developers to get a good understanding of app performance and trends.

The free, cloud-based service provides a range of data – such as monthly unique users, app starts by platform and 30 day unique user figures compared to app starts -– on a single dashboard.

Based on the data, developers can work out the best way to allocate development and marketing resources and how to optimise app store profits.

storeView can be incorporated into apps by adding a single file and one line of JavaScript code.

appMobi CTO Sam Abadir added that many app stores provide very little information about how apps are being used. Apple and Google, for example, only provide a download count.
