Apple has reportedly removed the adult social app Bang With Friends from the App Store, just a week after it was introduced for mobile devices.

Known as BWF Official in the App Store, the app allows users to flirt or set up dates with Facebook friends and has around one million users.

Co-founder of the app Colin Hodge confirmed to CNET that the app has been removed and said the company is working with Apple to work out why the move was made.

The link to the iPhone app now results in the message: “The item you’ve requested is not currently available in the US store”.

Apple has a history of banning apps that don’t meet its guidelines, with a recent spate of app recommendation apps, such as AppGratis, being removed from the App Store for contravening a clause which prohibits apps listing other products for promotion or sale “in a manner similar to or confusing with the App Store”.
