Appcelerator said that it plans adding support for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 platforms “in the first half of 2013”, enabling developers to create native apps for the operating systems using existing JavaScript skills.

The company also announced a partnership with automotive technology company Denso, to create a “development solution for in-car applications that are fully integrated with vehicle information systems”.

With regard to its Windows plans, the company said that adding support to its Titanium cross-platform app tools will “enable developers to produce apps as they do for other platforms Titanium supports, including Android and iOS”. It noted that “enterprises that are closely aligned with Microsoft technology will also have the opportunity to take advantage of Appcelerator's expertise to implement effective mobile strategies for their employees and customers”.

Under the terms of the Denso deal, Titanium will be “closely integrated” into Denso’s NaviBridge Module, enabling apps to transmit points of interest to in-dash navigation systems supporting the technology.

The company also said that “Because Denso is a trusted supplier to automotive manufacturers, this partnership grants Appcelerator's developer community unique access to an environment that is typically unavailable”. Opening a new vertical market for existing and future apps will provide developers with new, incremental revenue opportunities.
