More than 435,000 new apps will be added to Apple’s App Store by the end of the year, mobile analytics firm Adeven has forecasted. This compares to the 359,764 apps added in 2012.

However, Adeven said the proportion of apps that don’t rank – zombie apps – has increased from 60 percent in June 2012 to 64 percent in December, showing the increasingly competitive market for iOS apps.

Apple recently said there are now 775,000 apps in the App Store, which have racked up a total of 40 billion downloads since the service was introduced in 2008.

Commenting on Adeven’s figures, the UK International Advertising Bureau website, senior mobile manager Alex Kozloff said: “These amazing stats show the huge growth in the variety of mobile media available to consumers over the last few years.”
