App Annie announced the acquisition of Distimo, at the same time revealing it had received $17 million in a new funding round. Terms of the Distimo deal were not disclosed.

In a statement, App Annie said the transaction “brings together the best brains in the mobile app data space, helping App Annie to accelerate its product roadmap and keep developing the most advanced platform for analysing the mobile app ecosystem”.

Distimo’s Netherlands headquarters will become App Annie’s European R&D centre, with Distimo’s team integrated with App Annie’s to give a combined global headcount of 240.

Vincent Hoogsteder, CEO of Distimo, said the company will be “working closely with the App Annie team to integrate and merge all our best features into the App Annie platform”. This will be followed by a “smooth migration process” for customers, “so that all of the data you hold with Distimo is seamlessly accessible on App Annie”.

App Annie raised its $17 million funding from existing investors IDG Capital Partners, Greycroft Partners and Sequoia Capital. This brings its total raised to $39 million.
