Version 2.2 of Android is gaining momentum compared to older, more established versions of the operating system. According to the latest data from the Android Open Source project, 28.7 percent of users accessing Android Market in the two weeks ending September 1 did so using devices running version 2.2. This was up from 3.3 percent in the fourteen days before July 15. Meanwhile Android version 2.1’s share fell from 55.5 percent in July to 41.7 percent. Android 1.5 and Android 1.6 were used by 12 and 17.5 percent of Android Market consumers during the end of August, respectively.
